Chinese English Dictionaries

No one has written the perfect application yet for learning Chinese IMHO. It should have both Chinese, Pinyin and English and you should be able to highlight anything and see the translations. The closest seems to be:

# DictCN. This is a Firefox plug in that really works well for English to Chinese, but seems buggy trying to do Chinese to English. It does have pinyin which is great and it comes up as a tooltip in Firefox, but it isn’t super reliable. Seems to take a while to load properly
# CEDict. This is the actual open source dictionary folks use. “MDBG”:http://mdbg.net seems to be the best source for the latest cedict.u8 file that applications need.
# “Dimsum”:http://www.mandarintools.com/dimsum.html. This is a Java tool that does the same tjhing on your desktop.
# “DLTool” Seems almost perfect, it translates whatever is on the clipboard and is a Windows application. It is buggy though both in displaying characters and it seems to spin sometimes when there is too much stuff on the clipboard.

Fuji F10 Manual and Drivers

This is now an old camera, but for some reason the Fuji F10 camera requires its own USB driver and you can get it from the “Download”:http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/ServiceSupportProduct.jsp?prodcat=833110.

Microsoft EXIF and RAW Image Thumbnailer

“The-Digital-Pictures”:http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Canon-News/ is a great Canon site, but also has two great tips for XP users, first is to download the “Microsoft Photo Info”:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/prophoto/photoinfo.mspx which allows EXIF information editing and second is “Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer”:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d48e808e-b10d-4ce4-a141-5866fd4a3286&DisplayLang=en that lets you see RAW images from Canon and Nikon.

Sorry not to have blogged… Performancing bugs

Sorry not to have posted for a while. I gummed up Performancing the blog tool I use in Firefox. And there is no way to logon to ask questions. For those of you using that Firefox add-on, to really reset Performancing, you have to go to c:\documents and settings\rich\Application Data\Mozilla\…\profiles\ and look for the performancing* files and delete them and this resets performancing.

Xoom

This is a company that Brian mentioned that lets you send money overseas. It seems pretty cool as an idea. Kind of an overseas paypal called “Xoom”:https://www.xoom.com/
