I’ve tried a bunch of tools. Pearlyrics is gone thanks to the RIAA, it was great because it would go through your whole set of songs. All the rest just do the current playing song and most are widgets now:

I had given up on finding a lyric writer on the Mac that works. Canto Pod with automatic finding of the current itunes store and it saves the lyrics into your MP3 as well. Main thing that is still missing is finding all the lyrics for all your songs automatically, so you have to do [...]

On older version 1.x firmware, there were some nice tools to let you use any music as a ringtone. Wiped out with 2.0 arriving. And who wants to pay $1 for a ringtone when you already own the music. Some solutions

No unlock yet, but the iPhone Dev Team’s Pwnage Tool 2.0 does jailbreak iPhone 2.0. The need to jailbreak is lower since you can load apps, but not all the apps are availabe in the Appstore. For instance, my favorite, use an MP3 as a ringtone isn’t there.
