Ebikes are everywhere
Well electrification is happening to bikes and that’s a good thing. It’s going to solve two big problems:
1. Riding with a group. Riding is fun but if you fall off the back or on a hill, it’s joy great. An ebike let’s you keep up by shaving the soul sucking peak wattage. Most of the benefit of cycling comes from being sublactate so shaving the peaks is great
2. Bike commuting without the sweat. Before commuting only works when you have a shower. With ebikes you can now get out there and enjoy without having to worry about it. The weight penalty is now small enough that when you want to ride you just turn the assist down.

The two big drawbacks are price, they cost $2-5K so add quite a bit of price. It may make sense to use Lime or Jump ebikes for a while if you don’t use too much.

Given that what are some choices. Well https://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/a22132137/best-electric-bikes. Has a good overview.

For instance the Trek Domane is a nice bike and adding a sleek battery pack is a nice way to keep.

The Trek CrossRip+ is popular commuter bik but I’m not sure u want a racer look. Trek is the largest us manufacturer and this is a pretty standard layout.
The Beno ejoy is the style queen. Retro Italian and pretty good as a commuter
